MLM 101 : Inviting Scripts

Inviting is the most crucial skill of any network marketer. However, it is also the skill that is the most under-taught. “Basta mga invite ka lang!” but when you ask HOW, you end up with generic advice that just doesn’t work. In this article, I’m going to give you an inviting script with the proper flow, and including what exactly to say when your prospect asks you questions like, “ano ba ito? Networking ba ito?” and the like.

This script is NOT perfect – you will still get rejections. The guarantee is that out of 10 people, at least 1 will always say yes, even if you’re having a bad day. On average it gives about 3 “yes” responses, and on a great day around 5 or more.
Also, please note that you can edit this script to match your own personality (serious, conyo, taglish, etc.) But as much as possible, don’t remove the questions being asked because that is how you control the conversation flow. With that said, let’s get started!
Again, this script is done through call. Not text/Facebook/email/chat/messenger etc. and not even in person. Calls ONLY.

The General Inviting Script

You: Hello <his/her name>! Si <your name> pala ito, kamusta ka na?
If you haven’t been in touch for a long time, add the question, “naalala mo pa ba ako?”
Prospect: Okay naman, ikaw? Or bakit ka napatawag?
You: May tatanong lang sana akong importante, may 1-2 minutes ka ba ngayon?
Prospect: Yes okay naman. Bakit?
You: Okay! Teka pala, san ka na ba nag w-work ngayon? (Ilang years ka na? etc.)
Keep this to just maximum of 1 minute.
Prospect: <Just answers your questions…>
You: Okay, well kaya ko natanong kasi may ginagawa akong business project with a few friends from <work/FEU/UP/Badminton/Your Closest Affiliations/etc.> Okay yung takbo ng project kaya naghahanap pa kami ibang alam namin na okay ka-trabaho.
(Optional but recommended:) So naisip kita kasi… alam kong masipag ka… <insert applicable compliment here – wag yung fake!>.
Prospect: <Quick reaction to complement – di naman, or thank you.>
You: So ang itatanong ko sana sayo ay kung yung project ay kayang gawing part-time, and yung compensation and training din is very good, open ka ba to meet with me and my team leader para ma discuss namin sayo yung details ng project, then after tsaka ka mag decide if it’s for you?
(This is a very long line, but it is important to have no long pauses. Because when you pause, the prospect will start to ask you questions).
Prospect: Open naman ako. Kelan ba ito if ever?
You: Good, good! For this week I can meet you at <date and time> or <another date and time>. Alin ang mas prefer mo doon?
Prospect: Yung <selected date and time> nalang.
You: Okay, sige kita kita nalang ng <day and time>… It-text ko nalang sayo yung address and directions kung saan exactly, pero malapit ito sa <neutral landmark near your office>. Okay lang ba na pa-confirm kapag matanggap mo na yung text?
Prospect: Ok!
You: Tsaka pala, very professional yung culture namin dito sa project, okay lang din ba na expect talaga namin na you come on time?
Prospect: Okay.
You: Okay, sige, thank you sa oras and see you on <day and time>!

So that’s the basic flow of the script. Now, you may be already thinking: what if the prospect asks you questions? Well that’s the next part of this article! But first, a few guidelines on handling questions…
Guideline #1: Answer the question, THEN move on to the next part of the main script depending on when you were interrupted. Until you end up asking the next question. (I’ll give you examples later on).
Guideline #2: Have your script ALWAYS ready beside you so you don’t stutter or start guessing what to say next. Use the script!
With these guidelines established, here are the answers to FAQs over the course of saying the script:

Top Question #1: Questions about the business / company
You: Okay ka ba to meet para ma discuss namin sayo yung details nung project, then after you can decide nalang if it’s something you're interested in or not?
Prospect: Okay, pero pwede bang makahingi ng konting details sa project? / Anong company ba ito?
You: Ah, this is something we put up ourselves. Ang nature ng business is education-distribution of <general product category + related technical word*>. All the details naman will be discussed during the meeting. So for this week I am available nang <date and time> or <another date and time> Alin ba ang mas prefer mo doon?
Prospect: Yung <selected day/time> nalang.
Then just continue the main script from here.
*What is the general product category + related technical word?
  • If you’re in skin-care, say anti-aging technology.
  • If you’re in health and wellness, say supplementation.
  • If you’re in finance, say financial instruments.
  • The key here is to go for a familiar word, followed by a technical word. This makes the prospect have an idea, but since the next word is technical, they will just pretend to know about it.
  • Also avoid using the word “product”. Because the prospect ends up asking: “Magbebenta ba?” This question will be covered below, but our goal is to minimize the questions, not trigger them.
Very Important note: Most struggling network marketers fail in handling questions because they just answer the question, but don’t proceed with their script. So the prospect ends up asking another question! So the very important technique is to continue with the script, until you arrive at your next question!

Top Question #2: Questions about pyramiding / networking
You: ...so naghahanap pa kami ng more people to help out. So ang tata-
Prospect: <interrupts> teka, networking ba ito?
You: Wait, networking? Yan ba yung pyramiding? Yung naf-feature sa TV na mga scam?
Prospect: Oo.
You: Diba illegal yung ganun?
Prospect: Oo.
You: Teka, ganun ba ang gusto mo?
Prospect: Hindi, 'no.
You: Ah mabuti naman. Anyway, yung tatanong ko sana sayo is if kaya naman siyang gawing part-time…
Then just continue the main script from here.
Now, there is an exception to using this script. You see, most people confuse network marketing / mlm with pyramiding. This is what this script solves. But if your prospect seems to know the difference already, then you should give a more transparent answer.
You: ...so naghahanap pa kami ng more people to help out. So ang tata-
Prospect: <interrupts> teka, network marketing / multi-level marketing ba ito?
You: Oh, bakit mo natanong yun? May experience ka na ba with it?
Prospect: Ahh, kasi nag join na ako dati / yung kaibigan ko nalugi na sa ganyan / etc.
You: (Investigate further) Ah, anong company ka/siya? Sayang naman, kamusta ba yung training nila? Bakit kaya nahirapan sa business? Hindi masyadong effective yung training? May support ba na binigay?
Your goal here is to help him identify why he or his friend failed, so take your time understanding his situation! And when you have identified it, say…
You: Sorry sa naging experience mo. And actually yes yung ginagawa ko ngayon is network marketing din. Pero so far, ang experience ko is <something different from what he experienced*>. So ang tanong ko nalang sana ay based sa napagusapan natin, and nasabi ko nga na iba yung experience ko so far, open ka parin ba na tingnan siya, no commitments naman, and after the meeting doon ka mag decide if para sayo ba siya o hindi?
*If your prospect says "walang nagturo sa kanya paano mag-invite", then you answer, "here in our company may ready na scripts na". Or if your prosect says "walang support from the upline", then say that "the team is always ready". Again, the key is to show him that his bad experience doesn’t define the whole industry. There are better teams/companies out there.
When a prospect seems informed already about network marketing and multi-level marketing, please NEVER lie to them to get them to the meeting. Because it destroys trust! So in the script above, you are being a professional by saying it is network marketing and that you have a different experience with it. It is totally up to them if they will give it a second look. Some will say yes, some will say no. The important part here is you were a professional in handling the situation!
Side note: The more you practice the delivery of this script, the less times you get asked the network marketing question. It’s probably because the more professional you sound over the phone, the more confidence they give to you as well. So keep practicing!

Top Question #3: Questions about sales / product selling
Prospect: So magbebenta ba dito?
You: Bakit? Gusto mo ba ng sales?
Prospect: Yes / No (any answer!)
You: Ah, okay good! There’s something for you here. Anyway…
Then just continue the main script from here.
Note: I love the ease in handling this question because no matter what your prospect answers, you say the same thing!

Ulimate Concern: Prospect is asking too many questions
If the prospect is asking too many questions and you can’t move forward with the script, there are two ways to deal with them: (1) leverage on your credibility and (2) take the opportunity away from them. (Do only one.)
  1. Leveraging on credibility
Prospect: So ano ba talaga ito? Ano ba ang gagawin?
You: Wait, <name of friend> Happy naman ako na marami kang questions. And yun yung reason kung bakit may meeting so I can explain all the details, since wala naman matinong negosyo na over the phone or email lang pinaguusapan. Anyway, medyo napahaba na ang usapan natin - kaya based nalang sa mga nasabi ko na sayo, at sa pagkakakilala mo sa akin – open ka ba to a meeting? Yes or No?
If yes, then set it up.
If no, then say "Okay, no problem. Take care and god bless!"
  1. Taking away the opportunity
Prospect: So ano ba talaga ito? Ano ba ang gagawin?
You: Wait, <name of friend> ah medyo napahaba na ang usapan natin and it seems na hindi ka pa open to any business projects. I have to move on kaya, salamat nalang sa oras mo, take care and god bless!

(Yes, you end the call! Most will text back asking even more questions – do not reply, and just contact them after 6 months. Move on to the next person. A few will be more open to the meeting by then, so schedule a meeting with them.)

Now, before you use this, please remember the following:
  1. Change the words to match your personality. If you’re a quirky guy, then make it quirky. If you’re serious, then make it serious. If you speak in taglish, make it taglish.
  2. Practice by saying the lines out loud. Practice with a partner and make sure you don’t pause unnecessarily.
  3. You will still get NOs but that’s okay! Just add them to your “contact in 6 months’ list. The important thing is to focus on the several YES responses which you will get as well.
  4. Smile as you’re making the call.
  5. Use the script!
And that’s it for this article. I believe that this script can already change your business so much. But the best way to try it out, of course, is to go out there and do it!
